Back to School Shopping Essentials

Thursday, August 7th, 2014

??????????????????It is time to pack up the backpacks and take in that new pencil smell because school is almost back in session. Whether your child is going back to preschool, starting kindergarten or going into first grade, this is an important moment for every child as well as the parent.

It is important to know what kind of items to look for while going school shopping for the kids. As they get older they will need more specific school items but for the first few years there a handful of basic back to school shopping essentials that most young children will need.

Writing Materials

For young children going into preschool or kindergarten, they will most likely need a box of crayons and/or markers. Let the kids pick out their favorite colors and do not be afraid to go for the big box. If a child is going into first grade, they will need a lot more pencils, pens and erasers. Again, let them choose which ones they like best, half the fun of back to school shopping for kids is getting to pick out their own supplies.

Paper

Children in kindergarten or preschool will not need too many paper items, as the school will most likely supply that for them. But it does not hurt to buy some construction paper and white paper just in case. First graders will definitely need a spiral notebook or notebook paper inside a binder. There are a variety of different notebooks with pictures and designs, let them choose which one best suits their personality best.

Organization

Every child will need a backpack to keep things organized. As well as a backpack, older children will probably need pencil holders, folders and binders to keep everything situated. Label sections inside binders or on the front of folders to help the kids keep their assignments straight. If the kids are going to be packing their lunches, invest in a new lunchbox that will keep any food secure rather than sending a brown bag that could easily get squished inside a school bag.

School Wardrobe

Kids need to look their best when going back to school. Invest in a few new shirts, pants, skirts, dresses and accessories to help the kids feel confident on their first day back to school. Also, invest in a few new hook and loop toddler belts for little ones on their way to preschool to add some flair and help keep pants up on a ready-to-learn toddler.

On every back to school shopping trip, let the kids pick out something special that is not on the essentials list. Whether that is a fancy pen or a new water bottle or simply a bigger box or crayons, let them have one special thing that they can use at school to get them excited to learn.

A lot of young children are excited when it comes to starting school, while several are also nervous. Going back to school shopping can both amp up the excitement or help calm the nerves. Either way, it is important for a child to be a part of any back to school shopping excursions.

5 Awesome Toddler Summer Clothing Combinations

Thursday, June 19th, 2014
summer clothingSummer is here and it is time to shop for those just right outfits for the kids. Summer is a great time to come up with countless outfit combinations that will make the kids look stylish and adorable.

Sometimes deciding what to combine for those perfect summer outfits can be the hardest part. Moms may not have been born with the fashion gene but that does not mean that they cannot create one for their kids. Here are a couple ideas to get started.

Summer Time Play

When choosing summer clothing combinations for summer playtime, try to choose simpler outfits that the kids can run around in. Jean shorts are always a great choice because they go with just about anything. Simple t-shirts with fun pictures or designs are a great choice to pair with jeans. For girls, jean skorts add a more feminine touch and patterned leggings with a bright colored top is a great combination for a little girl on the run.

Sunday Best

A more formal summer outfit is where the fun comes in. For little boys, a short-sleeved collared dress shirt with khaki shorts, suspenders and bright colored bowtie is sure to receive some smiles. For little girls, bright patterned sundresses with strappy sandals and a flower or bow in the hair will make her feel beautiful.

Beachwear

Summer is the time for fun in the sun and a trip to the beach. Grab sunglasses and beach balls for the kids and head on down to the water. Adorable two or one piece swimsuits for girls with a little lace frill around the edges along with bright colored flip flops and a big floppy sun hat will be absolutely adorable. For the little guy’s day at the beach, plaid or stripped swimming trunks along with some matching sandals and cool shades will be sure to turn some heads.

The most important thing to remember when making outfit combinations is colors and patterns. Summer is the time to be bold. Make sure to choose bright bold colors against jeans or khakis or match with patterns. Never pair patterns with patterns to avoid chaos but instead pair patterns with solid colors. A patterned paint with a solid colored shirt that contains a simple picture is also a good choice. Use chaotic pieces to make simplistic styles to have the very best color combinations.

Time to Accessorize

When it comes to perfect combinations never skip out on the accessories. Sunglasses are always a fun treat for those sunny days. Other options are hook and loop toddler belts around shorts or dresses to give a nice clean completion to any outfit. Adorable sun hats with jumpers or baseball caps with t-shirts will keep the sunburns at bay and also look adorable. Along with any summer outfit, never forget a little bling for a little girl.

Summer time is one of the most fun seasons for new outfit creations. Parents, take the opportunity to pick out the kids clothes while they still cannot say no and come up with some of the best outfit combinations of the summer.

Tips to Use When Shopping for Toddler Belts

Monday, February 10th, 2014

Toddler Belt ShoppingToddler belts are used for a couple of different reasons. Whether you are using them to help keep pants pulled up and on your toddler or simply using it as an accent to their outfit, you will need to know a few things when picking out your child’s new belt. If you are not exactly sure what to look for when you go shopping for a belt, you may find yourself overwhelmed and also giving up. Trust me, this was me at one point in time.

Size

One of the most important things you need to know is the size of the belt. You will need to measure your child’s waist before shopping for a toddler belt so that you have an accurate measure. A belt that is too long or too tight will not work well and will irritate your toddler.

Toddler belt sizes are categorized differently. But to help you in your quest, here is our sizing chart:

Color

Color is another thing to consider. You can choose from many neutral colored belts and these types are beneficial to have on hand because they match a wide array of different outfits from jeans to khakis and black slacks. You also have the option of different colors and designs if you need something fancy or dressed up.

When buying toddler belts, it’s important that the belt blends in to most your toddler’s wardrobe in the closet.  For boys, it is nice to have some plain ones, in leather black or brown, which you can use for many classic outfits. However, for the girls, you can also go with more of the fancy designs.

Material

Lastly, you will want to consider the durability and material of the belt. Toddler belts come in a variety of different materials including leather and cotton, among others. The type of material you choose should depend on the look you are trying to achieve and also the event or occasion it is being used for. You will also want to make sure the belt is durable to keep up with your child and his or her activities throughout the day.

Belts for toddlers are a great accessory to add to any outfit and will also help achieve two purposes, holding pants and clothing items up and adding a cute accent to the outfit. Choosing a belt for your toddler will take some consideration and you will want to make sure, above all else, you know what your child’s waist size is.
